Maya Calendar Horoscope for November, 2011 (Part 1)

As described in Manual for the Soul, A Guide to the Energies of Life, the 260 day cycle that forms the foundation for the Mayan Calendar is comprised of 20 trecenas (weeks), each containing 13 days.

Within Mayan Calendrics each of the days represents a unique energy with a special meaning. Each of the trecenas has a theme, with the name of the trecena being reflective of the first day of the time frame.

                                                The Imix trecena Oct. 29 - Nov. 10, 2011

The Imix trecena that begins on Oct. 29th kicks off a new cycle of the 260 day sequence that began on One Imix in early February and concluded on Thirteen Ajaw on Oct. 28th. As the first trecena within this cycle, the theme for this Imix trecena is “birth”. One Imix, the first day of the trecena, is representative of the “initiation” (or birth) of a whole “new world”.  This “world-making” energy has the potential to be quite chaotic, but it also holds great promise. With the patron deities of this time frame being overseers of the generative nucleus of life, this is an energy that opens up a realm where “anything is possible”, as was the case in 1969 when the birth of internet come into being under this influence. The last time this energy appeared there was massive jubilation (and dancing in the streets) in Egypt and around the world when President Mubarak stepped down and handed over his presidential powers to the Egyptian Armed Forces. Two cycles before that, on the One Imix day that coincided with 09/09/09,  President Obama gave an address to a joint session of Congress that

opened the door for the ratification of his Health Care Reform bill.

Since Imix is also associated with the primordial realm, or place of origin that is the source of life, it has many important connections with the Milky Way and with the cosmos in general.  During this time frame humans made their first ascent into the stratosphere, in 1931; Chuck Yeager broke the sound barrier in 1947; Sputnik I kicked off the space race, with its launch in 1957; and NASA’s Spirit Rover landed on Mars in 2004. Such developments can certainly be seen as events that have opened up new realms of thought, setting new benchmarks for on-going explorations.

Since this is a “birthing” timeframe, it is sometimes marked by events that may seem chaotic , the kind of events that can suddenly send things going in new directions – sometimes forcing people to deal with new ideas or flesh out new possibilities. This certainly happened with the inception of the Russian Revolutions of 1905 and 1917; the Nazi winning of the Reichstag elections in 1930; and the shooting, death, and funeral of Senator Robert Kennedy in 1968.

As this “birth” related trecena comes into being it holds the potential to “shape” and bring into greater focus many of the issues that have been pushing forward over the past few weeks. With security forces placing more and more emphasis on the ousting of  “Occupy” encampments from public places in various cities it is likely that new tactics will spring up in the push towards greater social and economic equality, as in the National Bank Transfer movement that is urging people in the U.S. to take their money out of banks and put it into credit unions by Nov. 5th.

As this current trecena unfolds, these are the energies that will come into being (days of particular  importance are highlighted in red):

1 Imix (Oct. 29th) – the initiation of the “realm of all potential” - the beginning of the trecena

2 Ik’ (Oct. 30th) – the “generation of wind”; in the past this has brought some strong winds, as in the

brutal Arctic storm of 1993  and Category 5 Hurricane Ivan that devastated several areas in 2004

3 Ak’b’al (Oct. 31st) – the activation of darkness, associated with deep mysteries – Hallowe’en

4 K’an (Nov. 1st) – a “defining” energy associated with the resurrection of youthful vitality - All

Saints’ Day; celebration of the Day of the Dead in Mexico

5 Chikchan (Nov. 2nd) – associated with the “blessing of lifeforce” this is the type of energy that can

inspire people to take strong action against injustice, as happened when this energy was in place at

the time of the massacre at the Winter Place at the start of the Russian Revolution of 1905; this was

the energy that was also in place last February on the day that marked the beginning of the anti-

government protest demonstrations in Libya that triggered the beginning of the Libyan civil war

6 Kimi (Nov. 3rd) – an energy that could be translated as “death everywhere”, this is a “return to

    Source” type of force that certainly ties in with the Day of the Dead festivities at this time of year;

in the past there have been examples of the “death” aspect of this influence, as in the bombing

attack on Iraq’s Golden Mosque in 2006, but more traditionally this was seen as a “foundational”

type of energy, in the sense of providing a “foundation for regeneration”

7 Manik’ (Nov. 4th) – a “self-generating” type of energy associated with the idea of reciprocity; this

particular 7 Manik’ day marks the completion of the Mars500 (Mars Similator) experiment – the

mock journey to Mars conducted by six volunteers who have been isolated in a simulator at the

Russian Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Biomedical Problems (IBMP) in Moscow for 520 days

8 Lamat (Nov. 5th) – a “resurrection” of the Venus-oriented “heralding” energy, aligned with

leadership; traditionally a Maya “Celebration of Abundance” day; slated on this particular Nov. 5th

to be National Bank Transfer day, as noted above

9 Muluk (Nov. 6th) – representative of “the outward projection of water”, this is a path-finding, and

even “shape-shifting”, type of energy that holds the potential to bring forth developments that

could have long range implications, as seen on 9 Muluk on the first day of January in 1925 when

the astronomer Edwin Hubble announced the existence of galaxies other than the Milky Way,

which has subsequently greatly expanded our comprehension of the universe. Daylight Savings

Time ends on this particular 9 Muluk day, which is also the last day of the Day of the Dead

    festivities in many locations.

10 Ok (Nov. 7th) - a Burner Day representative of “foundational” fire, often associated with love,

protection, guidance, and justice; traditionally this would have been seen as an energy that “begins

the fire”, as in the sense of setting something up for action

11 Chuwen (Nov. 8th) – a “change” oriented, “timeweaver” type of energy that brought forth the 6.3

earthquake in Christchurch, N.Z. on its last appearance last February; this time NASA anticipates

a close by-pass of Earth by the 400 meter-sized Asteroid 2005 YU55; on this Nov. 8th this energy

correlates with the final day of the Maya calendar month called Sak

12 Eb’ (Nov. 9th) - a “gathering together”, “stream-of-consciousness” type of energy, this force can

be quite intense, often containing within it a “spark” or “essence of revitalization” that hints at

refreshing new possibilities; this can serve as a kind of preparation for transformation that will

soon follow. On this particular 12 Eb’ day there is an alignment with the “seating” (beginning) of

the Maya calendar month called Keh, associated with the hunt and with “New Fire”.

13 B’en (Nov. 10th) - “transformational personal authority”, in this case associated with the Full

Moon; an energy under which many significant events have taken place in the past, sometimes

related to situations that have had strong personal impact, as in the death of Queen Elizabeth I in

1603, the inception of the Russian Revolution of 1917, and the inception of Islamic Revolution in

    Iran, in 1970
