Maya Calendar Horoscope for November 2011 (Part 2)

As described in Manual for the Soul, A Guide to the Energies of Life, the 260 day cycle that forms the foundation for the Mayan Calendar is comprised of 20 trecenas (weeks), each containing 13 days. Within Mayan Calendrics each of the days represents a unique energy with a special meaning. Each of the trecenas has a theme, with the name of the trecena being reflective of the first day of the time frame.

The Ix Trecena: Nov. 11-23, 2011

The Ix (Jaguar) trecena that begins on Nov. 11th coincides with a significant point of time in the Gregorian calendar. This, of course, is Remembrance Day (aka Armistice Day), which is always observed on November 11th in recognition of the official end of World War I, when the hostilities formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. At the stoke of eleven a two-minute silence is observed during wreath-laying memorial ceremonies in many parts of the world. On this particular November 11th, in the year 2011, something known as the 11:11:11 phenomenon is also the focus of a great deal of attention. A horror thriller movie with that title is being released on that day, books have been written about it, conferences and other special gatherings are being held on the topic of 11:11:11, and there are multitudes of websites and internet-based discussions surrounding that theme.

As it happens, within Mayan Calendrics the number 11 is associated with change and with the transition from one state of being to another. Similarly, the Maya day known as One Ix (One Jaguar) that coincides with 11:11:11 is significantly associated with the power of transformation, so all of this suggests that some sort of significant change or transition may unfold within this time frame.

The 11:11:11 phenomenon aside, the Maya day known as One Ix has seen significant change unfold in the past, as when Versailles was stormed by a crowd of Parisienne women demanding change in 1789, resulting in the arrest of King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. This One Ix energy also brought forth the ratification of the Thirteenth Amendment (the abolition of slavery) in the U.S. in 1865; the founding of the League of Nations in 1919; the initiation of U.S. combat missions against the Vietcong, in 1962; and the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that hit the San Francisco Bay area in 1989.

One thing that becomes evident when tracking the impact of particular energies within the Mayan Calendar system is that events of a similar nature often unfold upon the cyclical return of those energies, often pushing forward ideas of a similar nature. The type of energy that precipitated the human rights demands in Paris 1789 has brought forth similar kinds of situations upon the return of this trecena. This can be seen in the massacre that took place at the Winter Palace in Russia in 1917 on 4 Kab’an (the 4th day of this period); the massive Tibetan uprising against Chinese aggression in Llasa in 1959, that unfolded during most of the trecena; and the civil rights riots that took place during the final days of this trecena in Watts, in Los Angeles, in 1965.

As reflected in these events, the intensity of the change can build up significantly through the days of the trecena, and can often be seen even in weather-related events, as has occurred in events of the past few years. This has included the deadly tornadoes that ripped through several states during the end of this trecena in early May of 2008, and the evacuations of hundreds of people in Atlantic Canada and Maine due to major flooding during the same time period. The Chaiten Volcano in Chile also erupted at this time. The following year at least 2.5 million people in India were left homeless during this time frame by “the worst floods in 100 years”. Then last year, on 13 Kimi, the final day of this trecena, a blast of the brightest X-rays ever detected from deep outer space (from a gamma-ray burst connected with the explosion of a massive star billions of years ago) temporarily blinded the  X-ray eye on NASA’s Swift space observatory.

In addition to all this, major change can happen on a personal level, sometimes with significant implications, as seen in the transformation that took place on 13 Kimi (a day of transformation associated with “death”) in 1952, when Queen Elizabeth II acceded to the throne upon the death of her father King George II.

Much of this reflects the “posturing for power” aspect that seems to be characteristic of this time frame. In ancient Mesoamerican the jaguar was seen as a “warrior” type of energy, associated with great power and high rank. This is an energy aligned with high magic and even mastery over things of an unseen nature. Due to the capacity of this energy to transform this was often seen as a time frame that could set the stage for advancements on multiple levels.

As this current trecena unfolds, these are the energies that will come into being (days of particular  importance are highlighted in red):

1 Ix (Nov. 11th) - the initiation of the Jaguar’s power of transformation - the beginning of the trecena;

   Remembrance Day; the 11:11:11 phenomenon

2 Men (Nov. 12th) - the “generation” of the Eagle’s “higher vision”

3 Kib’ (Nov. 13th) - the activation of transduction, often associated with the “restoration of order”

4 Kab’an (Nov. 14th) -  a “defining” energy associated with evolutional movement; in addition to the

massacre in Russia (noted above), other notable events that have taken place under this influence

include the beginning of Prohibition in the U.S. in 1920, and start of the London Blitz in 1940

5 Etz’nab’ (Nov. 15th) - the “blessing” of “flint” – a “knife edge” type of force that can not only be

quite dazzling, but also has the power to bring things to a definitive conclusion, as in the official

    surrender of Japan in 1945

6 Kawak (Nov. 16th) - this “storm everywhere” force often has more to do with the triggering of a

“storm of compassion” than a weather related event . . .  however, this IS November

7 Ajaw (Nov. 17th) - “self generating” full sun; traditionally a great Aztec feast day devoted to the

god of flowers, games, music, and dance, this would be a fitting tribute to this “Seven Flower” day

as this is the day when just 400 days remain until the completion of the current Great Cycle of time

    on Dec. 21st, 2012

8 Imix (Nov. 18th) – the “resurrection” of birth; Maya Calendar anniversary of the birth of King

    Henry XIII

9 Ik’ (Nov. 19th)  - the “outward projection” of wind, breath, spirit, this is the calendrical daysign of

Quetzalcóatl, the great Feathered Serpent that symbolized Higher Knowledge and represented the

portal between Earth and the Heavens; as this is the patron of this trecena this is a particularly

important  energy within this time frame, an energy that can “blow” in any direction and can often

bring unexpected change, as in tornadoes that have often manifested under this influence

10 Ak’b’al (Nov. 20th) - a combination of the foundational energy of “Source” with “darkness”, as in

the Temple associated with deep esoteric mysteries; the Jaguar energy that runs through this

trecena is very much a part of this energy - an excellent day for meditating or “dreaming”

11 K’an (Nov. 21st) - an “inspirational” type of energy associated with youthful vitality, as when Guy

Laliberté  donned a red nose to become the “first clown in space” on an 11 K’an day in 2009 after

his arrival at the International Space Station (he was launched 2 days earlier, on a 9 Ik’ day)

12 Chikchan (Nov. 22nd) - “dedicated” lifeforce – another powerful force that represents the doubling

of the intensity of the Quetzalcóatl energy noted above with regard to Nov. 19th; this is the type of

influence that can significantly draw people together, as when Vicente Fox won the 2000 election

    in Mexico

13 Kimi (Nov. 23rd) – “transformational death” – a powerful “return to Source” type of force that can

pack a huge punch, as in the weather events noted above (the  “killer” tornadoes in the U.S., the

East Coast flooding, and the volcano of 2008); that same year this 13 Kimi force also spawned

the terrifying Cyclone Nargis which devastated Myanmar and pushed a devastating 12 ft. storm

surge into the Irrawaddy Delta; the flooding in India took place two cycles later, in 2009.

The fact that such events have happened in the past under this influence does not mean that they

will happen again. The transformation could relate to something more specific, as in the accession

of Queen Elizabeth, an event that represented a huge turning point following the death of the

    former monarch.
