Maya Calendar Energies At Work In The World

The Maya date was 4 Ajaw 3 K’ank’in, equivalent to Dec. 21, 2012 – not the “end” of the calendar, but the completion of the 13th Bak’tun, a key date that marked the beginning of a new Great Cycle of Time. As always, the energies encoded in the calendar continue on. As described in Manual for the Soul, A Guide to the Energies of Life, the 260 day cycle that forms the foundation for the Maya Calendar is comprised of 20 trecenas (weeks), each containing 13 days, each of which represents a unique energy with a very special meaning. These energies as they manifest, at work and at play, are the focus of this blog.

With just two trecenas remaining in the current 260 day One Imix to Thirteen Ajaw sequence, the Men (Eagle) trecena tends to be a time frame associated with valour and the push towards supremacy. This is a zone that has been oriented traditionally, around power, military strength, and transformative action, as symbolized by the eagle. This is a “call to action” Read the full article…

There was no doubt last September that the opening of the Ik’ trecena was a “One Wind” day as that was the time when Cat. 5 Super Typhoon Meranti, one of the most powerful ever recorded, knocked out power to some 500,000 households in Taiwan, before wreaking havoc on mainland China. This typhoon had strengthened from a Cat. 1 to Read the full article…

After all the dust and dirt kicked up by the last trecena, which (among other things) generated an extraordinary meltdown in Washington D.C. and set the world wondering about the implications of the missile testing in North Korea, we come to the Muluk trecena, which begins with an important 52-day Shift-point within the 260-day cycle. As One Muluk comes into Read the full article…

As usual, the end of the last trecena brought a crescendo of activity, including much intense scrambling by U.S. lawmakers to pass a spending bill to prevent the government from shutting down, and a major push to repeal and replace Obamacare. While the House of Representatives passed a bill (with a razor-thin 217-213 vote) to do just that, the U.S. Read the full article…

“House”, “Temple”, “Darkness” – these are words often used as a translation for Ak’b’al. But this is also an energy associated with the earth and its mysteries, so this is certainly in synch with the events that will take place during this trecena, starting with the Earth Day activities that correlate with the opening day of this time frame. With its Read the full article…

It has been eight days since the start of the new Maya year, with several “world shifting” events, such as the triggering of Brexit and the U.S. missile strikes on Syria, occurring during that period. And now we find the Ok trecena, the first full trecena of the 6 Ik’ year, coming into play. Generally associated with Love, Loyalty, Warmth, Read the full article…

A time of both completion and renewal, the critical energy frame that we are now entering brings us through the transitional days at the end of the Classical Maya year and into the early days of the Maya New Year. This is a particularly interesting point in time because currently this is happening in conjunction with the Kab’an trecena which Read the full article…

It has been a painfully long and dreary winter for many, from multiple surprise attacks of freezing rains, snows, and even raging blizzards, with yet another powerful snowstorm  descending on the Northeast as we transition into this new trecena. (Manitoba is still digging out from snow up to rooftops last week). But spring is finally making its presence known in Read the full article…

As we move forward from the last 13-day period, which began with a “Day Without Immigrants” strike in the U.S., followed by a declaration of war against the media by the U.S. president, and then a series of large-scale protest demonstrations throughout the trecena, we arrive at the key mid-point within the overall 260-day cycle.   This is One Chuwen, Read the full article…

Sparkle, bling, “shock and awe”, and the cold sharp flint edge that holds the power to divide and separate – these are some of Etznab’s most overt characteristics. Often associated with events of a highly consequential (or even “sizzling”) nature Etz’nab’ is the ‘vehicle” for the next 13 days. Two “awesome” celestial events that coincide with this time frame include Read the full article…
